The best education I ever had in filmmaking was shooting behind-the-scenes for features. I was permitted, even requested, to stay close to the director and capture footage of his world in making the film. I was on set for two weeks, right over his shoulder for most of the time. I could be there, but I could not talk to him. Not “Hello,” not “That looks great!” and most certainly not, “Why did you do that?” Now I’m directing films, and nobody is allowed to talk to me either! (kidding). This blog is another kind of access point through The Director's Glass into my mind. - John Grooters, Director
