FROM THE DIRECTOR - John Grooters

With over 70 episodes now in can, our long running relationship with author and teacher Ray Vander Laan has taken us throughout virtually the entire world of the Bible. These fantastic History Channel style films present quite a physical and logistical challenge. Working in some hard-to-work in countries, and in some hard-to-endure terrain, Ray has yet to see a mountain he didn’t want to teach atop. Our three-camera crews must be prepared to hike, to endure the elements, and to capture the energetic teaching of Ray Vander Laan without interfering too much with the experience of his real-life audience. Each episode is supplemented with artwork, dramatic recreations, historical documents, graphic maps and original music. My job as director is to capture the energy and essence of Ray’s teaching – which captivates people on his always-full trips – and bring that experience to hundreds of thousands of people who will never be able to climb Mt. Sinai, Mt. Carmel, or the AcroCorinth for themselves.
